Poker Run

19 February 2022

Poker Run – Saturday 19th February
The aim of the game is to go out on your boat and gather five sealed envelopes, each containing a
Playing Card from nominated locations on the water or elsewhere, return to the Club Bar and present
the sealed envelopes to a Game Marshall, and have your hand recorded. The best hand according to
Basic Poker Rules takes first prize. Second best hand will take second prize and third best third prize.
There may also be a few door prizes to award at the judges discretion. The main aim of the game is to
have fun, use your boats and create camaraderie within the Club. Skippers are encouraged to host nonboat
owners on their boats and non-boat owners are encouraged to seek a place on a boat. It is
strongly suggested that guests on boats bring along a drink or something for the boat owners. Anyone
wishing to join a boat can register their interest with the office.

Fun Poker Run
19th February 2022
Object of the Game:
To gather five sealed envelopes, each containing a Playing Card from nominated
locations on the water or elsewhere, return to the Club Bar and present the sealed
envelopes to a Game Marshall, and have your hand recorded. The best hand
according to Basic Poker Rules takes first prize. Second best hand will take second
prize and third best third prize. There may also be a few door prizes to award at the
judges discretion.
How to play:

1. The cards are issued on a “per boat” basis, i.e. one hand per boat. Each boat must be
registered to enter the game. Registration can be done by contacting the office.
Registrations close at 12:00pm on the day prior to the event. On the day you will
receive these instructions and a chart indicating where you can “Find a Dealer”. These
can be collected from Rear Commodore Chris Ackerman – 0414 273 518 after
12:00pm on the day.

2. Collect your sealed envelopes from the Dealers at five locations on the water or as
nominated. The dealers will be at their locations between 13:30 and 15:30. You must
tell the Dealer your boat name, after which, you will be given a sealed envelope
containing one Playing Card and marked with your boat name. Do not break the seal
on your envelopes.

3. You may collect your cards from a Dealer in any sequence and at your own pace.
However, you should be back at the Club Bar by 16:00hrs. The envelopes must be
handed in to the Game Marshall by 16:10hrs.

4. At the Club Bar each boat will be called according to their boat name and asked to
show their five sealed envelopes to a Game Marshall. Each envelope must bear the
boat name. Any opened envelopes or envelopes not showing the correct name will be
disqualified.

5. Your envelopes will now be opened and the cards pinned, face down on the display

board so at this stage no-one will know the details of each hand.
6. When all boat’s hands are pinned face down on the board the Game Marshall will
reveal the hands one card per boat at a time so as to slowly reveal the hands.

7. When all boat’s hands are recorded, the judges will then decide the winning hands
and the prizes will be awarded as nominated.
Who may play the game?
The main aim of the game is to have fun, use your boats and create camaraderie within the
Club. Skippers are encouraged to host non-boat owners on their boats and non-boat owners
are encouraged to seek a place on a boat. It is strongly suggested that guests on boats bring
along a drink or something for the boat owners. Anyone wishing to join a boat can register
their interest with the office. Dealer boats will automatically receive a hand of envelopes if
they wish to enter.
Some Do’s and Don’ts!
Do use care on the water, especially when approaching a Dealer Boat. Your envelope
will be attached to a pole to assist with the passing of the envelope from boat to boat. The
event is not a Race!
Do obey all the “Rules of the Road“ and operate your boats in a safe and responsible
manner at all times.
Don’t argue with the Judges. Their decision is final!
Do have Fun!!!!
